South and Central America power industry contracts in March 2020: Brazil leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, Brazil led the activity in March 2020 with eight contracts and a share of 40%, up 25.7% over the previous month and down 33% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Chile with four contracts and a share of 20% and El Salvador with two contracts and a share of 10% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Brazil held the top spot with 12 contracts, followed by Argentina with four and Chile with three contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in March 2020

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with ten contracts and a 52.6% share, followed by thermal with four contracts and a 21.1% share and wind with two contracts and a 10.5% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in March 2020, with ten contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (6) and Electricity Procurement (4).
