South and Central America power industry contracts in October 2019: Brazil leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Brazil led the activity in October 2019 with 92 contracts and a share of 92%, up 77.7% over the previous month and up 1433% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Chile with eight contracts and a share of 8%.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Argentina held the top spot with six contracts, followed by Brazil with six and Chile with one contract.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in October 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 50 contracts and a 48.5% share, followed by hydro with 28 contracts and a 27.2% share and solar with 16 contracts and a 15.5% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in October 2019, with 92 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (5) and Generation Equipment (3).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 92 contracts and a 92% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: five contracts and a 5% share
- Supply & Erection: three contracts and a 3% share.
