South and Central America power industry contracts in Q2 2019: Brazil leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Brazil led the activity in Q2 2019 with 37 contracts and a share of 71.2%, up 53% over the previous quarter and down 16% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Argentina with four contracts and a share of 7.7% and Chile with three contracts and a share of 5.8% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, Brazil held the top spot with 44 contracts, followed by Argentina with 16 and Chile with five contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q2 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, Solar accounted for the largest proportion with 15 contracts and a 27.8% share, followed by Wind with 15 contracts and a 27.8% share and Biopower with 11 contracts and a 20.4% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in South and Central America power contracts activity during Q2 2019, with 31 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (17) and Electricity Procurement (5).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 30 contracts and a 57.7% share
- Supply & Erection: 15 contracts and a 28.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: five contracts and a 9.6% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in South and Central America were:
- UTE GNA I Geracao de Energia (Brazil) with 1,300MW from one contract
- Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica, Brazil (Brazil) with 695.48MW from 24 contracts
- Eneva (Brazil) with 386MW capacity from one contract.
