South and Central America power industry contracts in Q2 2021: Brazil leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Brazil led the activity in Q2 2021 with 24 contracts and a share of 45.3%, down 7.9% over the previous quarter and up 9% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Chile with 13 contracts and a share of 24.5% and Colombia with three contracts and a share of 5.7% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, Brazil held the top spot with 22 contracts, followed by Chile with 14 and Colombia with five contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q2 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 32 contracts and a 61.5% share, followed by wind with 14 contracts and a 26.9% share and hydro with three contracts and a 5.8% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in South and Central America power contracts activity during Q2 2021, with 17 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (14) and Power Plant (13).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 18 contracts and a 34% share
- Project Implementation: 15 contracts and a 28.3% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 14 contracts and a 26.4% share

- Elecnor (Spain): 681MW from two contracts
