South and Central America power industry tenders in May 2021: Bolivia leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Bolivia led the activity in May 2021 with 13 tenders and a share of 31%, up 3.7% over the previous month and up 63% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Uruguay with 13 tenders and a share of 31% and Trinidad and Tobago with five tenders and a share of 11.9% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Bolivia held the top spot with eight tenders, followed by Uruguay with three and Trinidad and Tobago with two tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in May 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with seven tenders and a 63.6% share, followed by thermal with one tender and a 9.1% share and wind with one tender and a 9.1% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in May 2021, with 26 tenders, followed by T&D Project (7) and Power Plant (5).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 29 tenders and a 69% share
  2. Project Implementation: 12 tenders and a 28.6% share
  3. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 2.4% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in South and Central America were:
