South and Central America power industry tenders in Q2 2020: Bolivia leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Bolivia led the activity in Q2 2020 with 11 tenders and a share of 28.2%, up 4.4% over the previous quarter and up 267% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Uruguay with ten tenders and a share of 25.6% and Brazil with six tenders and a share of 15.4% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, Trinidad and Tobago held the top spot with five tenders, followed by Brazil with four and Bolivia with three tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in Q2 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with four tenders and a 40% share, followed by hydro with three tenders and a 30% share and thermal with two tenders and a 20% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in South and Central America power tenders activity during Q2 2020, with 14 tenders, followed by T&D Project (11) and Power Plant (6).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 18 tenders and a 46.2% share
  2. Project Implementation: 13 tenders and a 33.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five tenders and a 12.8% share
