South and Central America Solar technology contracts activity drops 29% in Q3 2021

South and Central America solar technology contracts in Q3 2021 saw 20 contracts announced, marking a drop of 29% over the last four-quarter average of 28, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement with eight contracts and a 40% share
  2. Supply & Erection: seven contracts and a 35% share
  3. Project Implementation: four contracts and a 20% share
  4. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 5% share.

Brazil tops South and Central America solar power contracts activity

Brazil was the top country in the South and Central America region for solar technology contracts recorded in Q3 2021 with seven contracts and a 35% share, followed by Colombia with three contracts and a 15% share and the Dominican Republic with two contracts and a 10% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in South and Central America were:

  1. Unipar: 239MW from one contract
  2. BRF (Brazil): 80MW from one contract
  3. Lima Airport Partners: 28.8MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in South and Central America were:

  1. Atlas Renewable Energy USA (United States): 239MW from one contract
  2. Intrepid Participacoes (Brazil): 80MW from one contract
  3. MPC Energy Solutions (Netherlands): 47.62MW capacity from two contracts.
