The Tavan Tolgoi Coal Fired Power Plant is 450MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Omnogovi, Mongolia. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2022 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2024.

The project is being developed by Marubeni and MCS International. These companies also have ownership stakes in the project.

It is a steam turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Tavan Tolgoi Coal Field.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Oyu Tolgoi under a power purchase agreement.
