T&D equipment contracts down 45% in January 2021

T&D equipment contracts in January 2021 saw 27 contracts announced, marking a drop of 45% over the last 12-month average of 49, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 24 contracts and an 88.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 7.4% share
  3. Project Implementation: one contract and a 3.7% share.

Europe leads T&D equipment activity in January 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 21 contracts and a share of 77.8% during January 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with three contracts and an 11.1% share and North America with two contracts and a 7.4% share.

Solar is leading technology for T&D equipment contracts in January 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for five contracts with a 71.4% share, followed by wind with one contract and a 14.3% share and hydro with one contract and a 14.3% share.
