T&D equipment contracts up 104% in Q1 2020

T&D equipment contracts in Q1 2020 saw 108 contracts announced, marking a rise of 104% over the last four-quarter average of 53, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 95 contracts and an 88% share
2. Project Implementation: eight contracts and a 7.4% share
3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 4.6% share.

North America leads T&D equipment activity in Q1 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 43 contracts and a share of 39.8% during Q1 2020, followed by Europe with 34 contracts and a 31.5% share and Middle East and Africa with 18 contracts and a 16.7% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D equipment contracts in Q1 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 14 contracts with a 42.4% share, followed by solar with ten contracts and a 30.3% share and hydro with four contracts and a 12.1% share.
