T&D project contracts down 41% in October 2021

T&D project contracts in October 2021 saw 22 contracts announced, marking a drop of 41% over the last 12-month average of 37, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 16 contracts and a 72.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: five contracts and a 22.7% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 4.5% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in October 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with six contracts and a share of 27.3% during October 2021, followed by Europe with six contracts and a 27.3% share and Middle East and Africa with six contracts and a 27.3% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in October 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for eight contracts with a 72.7% share, followed by solar with two contracts and an 18.2% share and nuclear with one contract and a 9.1% share.

T&D project contracts in October 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. China Shenhua International Engineering (China): 129.97MW from one contract
  2. Algonquin Power & Utilities (Canada): 110MW from one contract
  3. Sowi Kosovo (Kosovo): 102.6MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. PowerChina Hubei Engineering (China): 129.97MW from one contract
  2. White Construction (United States): 110MW from one contract
  3. NOTUS energy GmbH  (Germany): 102.6MW capacity from one contract.
