T&D project contracts down 5% in May 2022

T&D project contracts in May 2022 saw 37 contracts announced, marking a drop of 5% over the last 12-month average of 39, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 23 contracts and a 62.2% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: ten contracts and a 27% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 10.8% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in May 2022

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 28 contracts and a share of 75.7% during May 2022, followed by Europe with four contracts and a 10.8% share and Middle East and Africa with four contracts and a 10.8% share.

Solar is leading technology for T&D project contracts in May 2022

Among the technologies, solar accounted for nine contracts with a 47.4% share, followed by wind with seven contracts and a 36.8% share and thermal with three contracts and a 15.8% share.

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Neom (Saudi Arabia): 4,300MW from one contract
  2. Elektroprivreda Srbije (Serbia): 66MW from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Larsen & Toubro (Oman) (Oman): 4,300MW from one contract
  2. China Energy Engineering (China): 805.45MW from two contracts
  3. Powerchina Chongqing Engineering (China): 300MW capacity from one contract.
