T&D project contracts up 7% in Q3 2021

T&D project contracts in Q3 2021 saw 115 contracts announced, marking a rise of 7% over the last four-quarter average of 107, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 82 contracts and a 71.3% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 21 contracts and an 18.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 12 contracts and a 10.4% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in Q3 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 41 contracts and a share of 35.7% during Q3 2021, followed by Europe with 33 contracts and a 28.7% share and Middle East and Africa with 31 contracts and a 27% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in Q3 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 19 contracts with a 45.2% share, followed by solar with 11 contracts and a 26.2% share and thermal with six contracts and a 14.3% share.

T&D project contracts in Q3 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Alliant Energy (United States): 250MW from one contract
  2. Subei Luneng New Energy: 200MW from one contract
  3. LPC Lufubu Power (Zambia): 163MW capacity from one contract.

T&D project contracts in Q3 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Power Construction Corporation of China (China): 300MW from one contract
  2. Burns & McDonnell (United States): 250MW from one contract
  3. PowerChina Hubei Engineering (China): 200MW capacity from one contract.
