T&D project contracts up 18% in February 2021

T&D project contracts in February 2021 saw 40 contracts announced, marking a rise of 18% over the last 12-month average of 34, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 34 contracts and an 85% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: six contracts and a 15% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in February 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 17 contracts and a share of 42.5% during February 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 12 contracts and a 30% share and Europe with nine contracts and a 22.5% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in February 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for nine contracts with a 64.3% share, followed by solar with four contracts and a 28.6% share and hydro with one contract and a 7.1% share.

T&D project contracts in February 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. China Gezhouba Group (China): 84MW from one contract
  2. Hassan Allam Holding (Egypt) and Power Generation Engineering and Services (Egypt): 10MW from one contract.
