T&D project contracts down 34% in January 2021

T&D project contracts in January 2021 saw 23 contracts announced, marking a drop of 34% over the last 12-month average of 35, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 20 contracts and an 87% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 13% share.

Middle East and Africa leads T&D project activity in January 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Middle East and Africa held the top position with 12 contracts and a share of 52.2% during January 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with six contracts and a 26.1% share and Europe with four contracts and a 17.4% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in January 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for three contracts with a 50% share, followed by thermal with two contracts and a 33.3% share and solar with one contract and a 16.7% share.

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Greenalia Wind Power Ourol SLU (Spain): 74.22MW from one contract
  2. Ciments du Sahel (Senegal): 55MW from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Elecnor (Spain): 74.22MW from one contract
  2. China Gezhouba Group (China): 55MW from one contract.
