T&D project contracts down 7% in Q2 2021

T&D project contracts in Q2 2021 saw 100 contracts announced, marking a drop of 7% over the last four-quarter average of 107, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 69 contracts and a 69% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 25 contracts and a 25% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six contracts and a 6% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in Q2 2021

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 30 contracts and a share of 30% during Q2 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 30 contracts and a 30% share and Europe with 29 contracts and a 29% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in Q2 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 17 contracts with a 48.6% share, followed by solar with 14 contracts and a 40% share and thermal with two contracts and a 5.7% share.

T&D project contracts in Q2 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. CEME1 (Chile): 480MW from one contract
  2. Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 457MW from one contract
  3. Atlas Renewable Energy USA (United States): 359MW capacity from one contract.

T&D project contracts in Q2 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Elecnor (Spain): 681MW from two contracts
  2. Power Construction Corporation of China (China): 680MW from two contracts
  3. Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates): 457MW capacity from one contract.
