T&D project contracts down 5% in Q4 2020

T&D project contracts in Q4 2020 saw 91 contracts announced, marking a drop of 5% over the last four-quarter average of 96, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 72 contracts and a 79.1% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 11 contracts and a 12.1% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: eight contracts and an 8.8% share.

Europe leads T&D project activity in Q4 2020

Comparing contracts activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 30 contracts and a share of 33% during Q4 2020, followed by Middle East and Africa with 27 contracts and a 29.7% share and Asia-Pacific with 22 contracts and a 24.2% share.

Wind is leading technology for T&D project contracts in Q4 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 23 contracts with a 67.6% share, followed by solar with eight contracts and a 23.5% share and thermal with three contracts and an 8.8% share.

T&D project contracts in Q4 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Trading Construction Works Organization: 350MW from one contract
  2. Societe Nigerienne d’Electricite (Niger): 18.9MW from one contract.

T&D project contracts in Q4 2020: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. China Gezhouba Group International Engineering (China): 869MW from two contracts
  2. China Gezhouba Group (China): 350MW from one contract
  3. China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering (China): 250MW capacity from one contract.
