T&D project tenders down 53% in Q4 2020

T&D project tenders in Q4 2020 saw 410 tenders announced, marking a drop of 53% over the last four-quarter average of 873, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 271 tenders and a 66.1% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 109 tenders and a 26.6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: 29 tenders and a 7.1% share
  4. Supply & Erection: one tender and a 0.2% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D project activity in Q4 2020

Comparing tenders activity in T&D project segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 278 tenders and a share of 67.8% during Q4 2020, followed by Europe with 72 tenders and a 17.6% share and Middle East and Africa with 24 tenders and a 5.9% share.

Solar is leading technology for T&D project tenders in Q4 2020

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 11 tenders with an 84.6% share, followed by wind with two tenders and a 15.4% share.
