Tongonan 1 is a 123MW geothermal power project. It is located in Eastern Visayas, Philippines. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in March 1983.

The geothermal plant is of double flash type. The geothermal site has in total 33 number of wells. Out of this 27 are production wells and remaining 6 are injection wells.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the Tongonan 1 is sold to Manila Electric under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.1kWh for a period of 5.00 years, starting from 2019.

Contractors Involved

Mitsubishi Power was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the geothermal power project. The geothermal power project consists of 3 turbines. Energy Development, is the steam raising contractor for the project.
