Here are the top five solar energy construction projects that commenced in the US in Q3 2021, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Gemini Solar Power Complex 690 MW – $1,100m

The Gemini Solar project involves the construction of a 690MW solar power complex on 17,806ha of land in Clark County, Los Vegas, Nevada, the US.

Construction work started in Q3 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The aim of the project is to enhance the power availability in the region and provide pollution-free energy by reducing carbon emissions.

2. Edwards and Sanborn Solar Plant 1118 MW – $804m

The project involves the construction of a 1,118MW solar park in Kern County, California, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2021 and is expected to finish in Q4 2022.

The solar farm will provide enough electricity to power 260,000 homes in the region.

3. Kapolei Energy Storage 185 MW / 565 MWh – $200m

Construction work started in Q3 2021 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2022.

The project aims to increase the state’s installed solar capacity and energy storage capacity.

4. Holliday Creek Solar Farm 100 MW – $100m

The project involves the construction of a 100MW solar farm in Iowa, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2022.

The project aims to generate enough electricity to power 30,000 households.

5. North Rock Solar Power Farm 50 MW – $60m

The project involves the construction of a 50MW solar energy farm on 178ha of land in Wisconsin, the US.

Construction work started in Q3 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2023.

The project aims to address the growing demand for power in the region. It will create 150-200 jobs during construction.
