Tunduru – Masasi Line is a 400kV overhead line with a length of 194km from Tunduru, Ruvuma, Tanzania, to Masasi, Mtwara, Tanzania.
The project, which is currently in the planning stage, is expected to be commissioned in 2024.
Tunduru – Masasi Line is an overhead line that will be operated by Tanzania Electric Supply. The line will carry alternating current (AC) through double circuit cable.
Approximately $80.51m was financed by the authorities to undertake the construction works of the project.

The construction works on the Tunduru – Masasi Line project will be commenced in 2023 and commissioning is expected in 2024.

Tanzania Electric Supply Co Ltd (TANESCO), formerly Tanganyika Electric Supply Co Ltd, is a government owned integrated power company. The company’s operations are regulated by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. It generates, transmits, distributes and supplies electricity. TANESCO generates the power through hydro and thermal power stations. TANESCO also procures electricity from independent power producers and EPPs.
