Vishnuprayag is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project are 955m and 915m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 3 in number. The penstock diameter is 1.85m. Vishnuprayag underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2013-2014. The project generated 1,774.4 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $370.557m.
