Description
Wainganga is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project will be 25.4m and 22.86m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 5 in number. The penstock length will be 70m. The penstock diameter will be 5m. The project is expected to generate 246.146 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $307.66m.
The hydro power project consists of 5 units of kaplan turbines.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2027.
