The West Texas Standalone Battery Energy Storage System I is a 10,000kW energy storage project located in Texas, US. The rated storage capacity of the project is 20,000kWh.

The electro-chemical battery energy storage project uses lithium-ion as its storage technology. The project was announced in 2021 and will be commissioned in 2021.

Contractors involved

LG Chem is the technology provider for the project.

Burns & McDonnell Services is the EPC contractor for the project.

Additional information

Burns & McDonnell was selected by LG Energy Solution and Sustainable Environmental Renewable (SER) Capital Partners to provide engineer-procure-construct (EPC) services for three 10 MW/20 MWh lithium-ion, stand-alone battery energy storage systems. The project will provide the ability to maintain reliable energy services, regardless of if the sun is shining or wind is available to generate power.

Methodology
