The project was developed by Wuskwatim Power Ltd Partnership. Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board and Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 67% and 33% respectively.
Wuskwatim is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project is 21m. The project cost is $1,370m.

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of propeller turbines, each with 70MW nameplate capacity.
