Zabrze Biomass Power Plant is a 37.5MW biopower project. It is located in Silesia, Poland. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in September 2018.

Description

The project was developed by Amec Foster Wheeler and is currently owned by Fortum Silesia.

The project generates 550GWh of electricity. The project cost is $214.794m.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Refuse which is a kind of municipal solid waste is used as a feedstock to power the project.

The project got commissioned in September 2018.

Contractors Involved

Doosan Skoda Power was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 unit of Backpressure turbine with 75MW nameplate capacity.

Sumitomo SHI FW Energia supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 270TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 536°C. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 1,334psig.Doosan Skoda Power supplied the electric generator for the project.
