The project was developed by Mindong Huadian Hydropower Development and is currently owned by China Huadian with a stake of 100%.
Zhouning is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 47 million cubic meter. The project generated 658 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $143.72m.

The project construction commenced in 2001 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2005.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to State Grid Corporation of China under a power purchase agreement.
Contractors Involved
General Electric Asia Hydroelectric Equipment was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 125MW nameplate capacity.
Harbin Electric Machinery supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 125 MVA.
