Zion Energy Center is a 596.7MW gas fired power project. It is located in Illinois, the US. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in June 2002.

Description

The project is currently owned by Calpine with a stake of 100%.

It is a Gas Turbine power plant that is used for Peakload. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Distillate Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Kinder Morgan, NGPL.

The project generated 61,705MWh of electricity.

Zion Energy Center (Zion Energy Center Unit I) is equipped with GE Power gas turbine. The phase consists of 1 gas turbine with 198.9MW nameplate capacity.

Zion Energy Center (Zion Energy Center Unit II) is equipped with GE Power gas turbine. The phase consists of 1 gas turbine with 198.9MW nameplate capacity.

Zion Energy Center (Zion Energy Center Unit III) is equipped with GE Power gas turbine. The phase consists of 1 gas turbine with 198.9MW nameplate capacity.
