Cadeler has secured a firm contract to assist with transport and installation of turbines at the 1.2GW Dogger Bank C, the third phase of the Dogger Bank wind farm off the UK coast.
The company’s newly built installation vessel, Wind Apex, is set to commence work on the project in the third quarter (Q3) of 2027.

This assignment will be Wind Apex’s first deployment following delivery from the shipyard.
The 3.6GW Dogger Bank wind farm is being developed in three equal phases, including Dogger Bank A, B, and C, each with a capacity of 1.2GW. The project is being developed about 130km off England’s north-east coast.
Upon completion, the wind farm is expected to generate sufficient renewable electricity to power roughly six million households across the UK each year.
Under the contract, Wind Apex will operate in conjunction with the project’s current installation vessel, increasing capacity for transporting and installing the 87 offshore wind turbines planned for Dogger Bank C.
The vessel may also be deployed across other phases of the Dogger Bank project depending on operational requirements.
Wind Apex is the third vessel in Cadeler’s A-class series, following Wind Ally and Wind Ace.
These A-class vessels are equipped to handle both foundation and turbine installation, featuring high deck loads and large-capacity cranes capable of deploying the latest generation of offshore wind infrastructure.
Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup said: “Dogger Bank is one of the world’s most ambitious offshore wind developments, and we are proud to support its delivery.
“We value the long-standing relationships we have built with our customers and see these contracts as a reflection of the trust they place in Cadeler to execute large-scale offshore wind projects safely and efficiently.
“The campaign will also mark the first deployment of Wind Apex, and we look forward to seeing her begin operations on a project of this scale.”
The Dogger Bank wind farm is a joint venture between SSE and Equinor, each with a 40% stake, and Vårgrønn, which holds 20%.
SSE is responsible for the project’s development and construction, with Equinor set to manage operations once the site becomes active, with an anticipated operational period of roughly 35 years.
Cadeler has worked on previous UK offshore wind developments for SSE, including the Beatrice and Seagreen projects, and is also involved in the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 wind farm projects in Poland with Equinor as a partner.
In August 2026, the company signed firm contracts worth approximately €805m ($929m) with COSCO Shipping Offshore shipyard in Qidong, China, to build two new T-class offshore wind installation vessels.
