SIMEC Atlantis Energy, the Development Agency for Normandy (AD Normandy), and Normandie Participations have formed a new joint venture (JV) called Normandie Hydrolienne for developing a tidal power project in Raz Blanchard, Normandie.

Normandie Hydrolienne has been established the JV with the intention of harnessing up to 2GW of power from Alderney Race, an eight-mile strait running between Alderney and La Hague in France.

It will also focus on producing more than 1GW of resource from adjacent concessions that are under the control of the States of Alderney.

Based in the UK, SIMEC Atlantis Energy is engaged in developing tidal energy projects, while AD Normandy, based in France, is the regional agency for economic development in Normandy. Normandie Participations is a regional investment fund based in France.

Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions (Toshiba ESS) and Senvion have entered a non-exclusive co-operation agreement to market, sell, install and operate Senvion wind turbines in Japan.

Toshiba ESS will undertake customer interface and installation services, while Senvion will be responsible for turbine technology, operation and maintenance services and technical support, as part of the agreement.

Statkraft has reached an agreement with EDP Brasil to acquire eight operational hydropower plants with a combined installed capacity of 131.9MW in Brazil.

EDF Energy has entered a partnership agreement with Nuvve to install 1,500 vehicle-to-grid (V2G) smart EV chargers in the UK.

EDF Energy will offer the V2G chargers to its business customers, and for usage at its own sites to generate up to 15MW of additional energy storage capacity. Energy generated from the V2G chargers will be sufficient to supply power for 4,000 UK households.

Pensionskassernes Administration (PKA) has reached an agreement with Canadian Solar’s subsidiary Recurrent Energy to acquire 49% passive equity stake in the Garland and Tranquillity solar facilities for Dkr2bn ($304m).

The stake acquisition is the first direct investment in solar energy made by PKA, which has a target of allocating 10% of its total investments for climate-related projects by 2020.

Based in Denmark, PKA is a pension service provider, while Canadian Solar is engaged in the manufacture of solar photovoltaics.
