GE Vernova has finalised an agreement to deliver 28 of its 3.8MW-154m onshore wind turbines to Powerica for the 100MW Botad Wind Farm in Gujarat, India.

The order marks the first deployment of GE Vernova’s 3.8MW turbine model in the Indian market.

The turbines will be produced at GE Vernova’s manufacturing facility in Pune, with delivery scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 (Q4 2026).

Installation is included in the scope of the agreement.

The two companies have worked together on four wind farm projects to date.

Powerica obtained the project’s power purchase agreement (PPA) through a competitive auction held by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam.

GE Vernova also revealed that it has received certification from India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and secured a place on the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers of Wind Turbines.

Powerica whole time director Pradeep Gupta said: “We are pleased to be partnering with GE Vernova for our fourth project in the state of Gujarat.

“The debut of GE Vernova’s 3.8MW-154m workhorse turbine, optimised for reliability and scale in the Indian market, makes this collaboration especially significant.

“This 100MW project will strengthen our IPP [independent power producer] portfolio and further reinforce our commitment to delivering meaningful impact in the renewable energy sector.”

At full scale, the Pune facility is designed to support up to 1.5GW of wind turbine production annually.

India has set a national target of 500GW of non‑fossil energy capacity by 2030, including 100GW from wind generation.

GE Vernova reports that its wind business surpassed 5GW of installed capacity in India in 2025.

The new 3.8MW-154m turbine is intended to address requirements unique to the Indian market.

The unit features a 30-year designed lifespan, advanced lightning protection, a digital blade certificate for every blade, a tubular steel tower and capacity for installation using a 650t crane.

All next-generation GE Vernova wind turbines manufactured in India will incorporate the company’s AI-powered digital blade certification process.

GE Vernova India onshore wind business general manager Deepak Maloo said: “We are thrilled to partner with Powerica once again as we launch our newest workhorse turbine in India.

“The 3.8MW-154m turbine is designed to deliver efficiency, reliability and strong performance for India’s wind conditions.”

GE Vernova has been operating in India for more than 100 years and has facilities in Pune, Bengaluru and Vadodara.

Globally, GE Vernova’s wind turbine fleet numbers approximately 59,000 turbines, representing around 120GW of installed capacity.

In March this year, the company secured a contract to supply 17 onshore wind turbines for a new project in Fortore, Benevento, Italy, with an output exceeding 100MW.
