Greenvolt Power, part of Greenvolt Group, has obtained $318m (€284m) in project financing for a 253.1MW wind farm in Gurbănești, located east of Bucharest, Romania.

The financing was arranged through a syndicate of eight banks: Alpha Bank, Banca Comercială Română, BRD, Erste Group Bank, ING Bank, Siemens Financial Services through Siemens Bank, Société Générale and UniCredit.

Once operational, the facility will expand the country’s renewable generation capacity.

Greenvolt Power M&A and project finance director Adrian Góralski said: “Our ability to advance projects at this scale is supported by strong relationships with financial partners who understand our business and the quality assets we are developing.

“This financing is another example of that collaboration, reflecting our ability to find the right financing solutions for our projects.”

The Gurbănești project forms part of the broader Wind Rose platform, which totals 506MW of renewable energy capacity under development. This platform also includes the 253.1MW Ialomița wind project.

According to Greenvolt Group, the Wind Rose platform represents one of Romania’s most significant private renewable energy initiatives currently under way.

Beyond this project, Greenvolt Group has a pipeline in Romania comprising 707MW of utility-scale wind, 58MW of solar and 209MW of battery energy storage projects.

The group is also active in distributed generation through its Greenvolt Next division, which delivers on-site renewable energy solutions to corporate and industrial customers.

Greenvolt Group CEO João Manso Neto said: “Romania is an important market for Greenvolt, where we see strong long-term potential, and our investment in the country reflects that.

“Wind has been a particular focus, but our presence extends across technologies and business segments. Alongside our utility-scale activities, we are also consolidating our presence in on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients.”

In February 2026, Greenvolt obtained a €348m financing package to support the construction of a 253.1MW wind project in Ialomița County, south-eastern Romania.
