Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Carlyle Group to acquire its subsidiary Cogentrix Energy Power Management for approximately $30m.

The deal will provide KEPCO ownership rights to the 30MW Alamosa solar generating plant in the San Luis Valley in Colorado, US. The plant is expected to start operations in October 2016.

BBOXX has closed its $20m Series C venture financing round through contributions from co-investors MacKinnon, Bennett & Company (MKB), ENGIE Rassembleurs d'Energies, and KawiSafi Ventures, as well as existing investors Khosla Impact Fund, Bamboo Finance, and DOEN Foundation.

Proceeds will be used to expand BBOXX's markets in Kenya and Rwanda and to create three new franchises in Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, and Nigeria.

Kerala State Electricity Board has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop the 200MW Kasargod solarpower project in Ambalathara, Kerala.
