EDF EN Canada has received approval from the provincial Government of Quebec to build and operate a 150MW wind project in Canada.

The Massif du Sud wind project will be located in the municipalities of MRC des Etchemins and the MRC de Bellechasse.

The project will be built at an investment of $530m and will generate energy to provide electricity equivalent to 30,000 households in Quebec.

Turbine manufacturer REpower will provide 75 wind turbines at 2MW each while LM Wind Power will supply the blades and towers.

SEG Woodward will assemble the electrical converters.
