Enel's subsidiary Enel Green Power North America (EGPNA) has commenced construction of the 65MW Chisholm View II wind project, which is valued at $90m.

Based in Oklahoma in the US, the project will see an expansion of the existing 235MW windfarm to a total installed capacity of 300MW.

Enel Green Power North America's head Rafael Gonzalez said: “With the construction of Chisholm View II, EGPNA is further reinforcing its rapid growth strategy in the US.

“The new plant is part of our ongoing commitment to expand our operations in North America, where we continue to reach new milestones including a record 800MW currently under construction.

"The farm will be EGPNA’s second wind project to start construction in Oklahoma this year."

“This is an unprecedented level of growth for EGPNA, which further strengthens our positioning as one of the leading renewable energy companies in the US.”

The new project is expected to be in operation by the end of this year and will have the capacity to produce more than 240 million kWh annually.
