Spanish utility Iberdrola is in negotiations with the UK Government to secure more financial aid to build the £1.2bn carbon-capture storage project in Longannet.
The UK Government had earlier earmarked £1bn in funding for the country’s first carbon-capture storage project, however, the utility has so far only received £400m and needs at least £600m to complete the project.
Iberdrola is the owner of UK energy supplier Scottish Power, reports Reuters.
