A consortium of Marubeni, General Electric (GE), and PT Hutama Karya (HK) has secured a contract valued at around JPY41bn ($366m) from PT Indonesia Power (Persero) to develop the Tambak Lorok combined cycle power plant block 3 project.
Under the deal, the consortium will provide engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for the 780MW plant.

By GlobalDataMarubeni will install a range of equipment including a heat recovery steam generator, a gas turbine, a steam turbine, and a generator, which will be provided by GE. Civil construction work will be carried out by HK.
To be located in Semarang, Indonesia, the proposed project will be constructed beside existing power plants at the site, and is expected to be completed by 2020.
Earlier this month, Marubeni commissioned a biomass power plant owned by Tsuruga Green Power, which was established by Marubeni Thermal Power, in Tsuruga, Japan.
The plant is capable of generating 37MW of power using imported unutilised wooden chips. This is equivalent to the electricity usage of 70,000 regular households in the region.
The plant will also supply power for Marubeni’s wholly-owned subsidiary Marubeni Power Retail’s Power Producer & Supplier business.
