Manufacturing company Peikko Group has secured a new order to deliver gravity foundation technology to the Lehtirova wind park in Norrbotten county, Sweden.

Under the deal, the company will supply the MODIX Center Anchor, MODIX Rebar Splicings, and PSB Shear Reinforcement, as well as other standard rebar components of the foundation.

Peikko Group will also be responsible for the foundation design and structural calculations, which are expected to be delivered gradually beween June and October.

Construction of the wind park will be carried out as an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project by OX2, a company that develops, builds, finances, and manages renewable energy plants in the Nordic countries.

Empower PN is one of the contractors for the Lehtirova windpower facility and is responsible for foundation construction.

"We are excited to cooperate with Empower in this major wind park project."

Peikko Group's chief executive officer Topi Paananen said: “We are excited to cooperate with Empower in this major wind park project.

“Previously, Peikko has delivered its foundation solution to OX2 windfarms in Finland where the foundations were also constructed by Empower, the Jouttikallio and Ajos windfarms.

“Continuing the cooperation now in the Swedish market is a significant step for Peikko’s wind turbine foundation technology.”

The entire range of foundations is expected to be ready by November this year. The facility will feature 41 units of Vestas’ type V126-3.6MW wind turbines, with hub heights of 121m.

The turbines will be mounted at the site around June 2018, while the wind park is expected to be operational by December of the same year.
