Solarpower solutions provider Photon Energy NV is developing a 316MW plant near Gunning, New South Wales.

To be built on 590ha of land, this plant will be one of the biggest photovoltaic (PV) projects in Australia. 

Currently, works regarding permits and grid connection are underway. Construction of the plant is likely to commence in early 2019.

The grid connection process is managed by Transgrid, which operates high-voltage transmission networks in New South Wales.

Photon Energy Australia's managing director Michael Gartner said: “Gunning is, to date, the largest solar project Photon Energy is developing with a view of making a material contribution to Australia’s goal of meeting its renewable energy target."

Photon Energy is also building solarpower plants with a total capacity of 42MWp.
