US-based utility company Xcel Energy has partnered with Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) to develop a new threat information sharing community.
The new community will help enhance security protections for the energy sector. Named Energy Analytic Security Exchange (EASE), it will also enable the sector to have increased access to cyber and physical security intelligence.
Xcel Energy's chairman, president, and chief executive officer (CEO) Ben Fowke said: “Ensuring the integrity of critical infrastructure demands constant vigilance and it is a responsibility we take seriously."
The new electric grid-centred intelligence community will be coordinated by the team from the FS-ISAC Sector Services on behalf of the energy sector members. Under the new partnership, FS-ISAC will provide the new EASE community with its expertise, technology, and access to intelligence partnerships.
FS-ISAC's sector services CEO Cindy Donaldson said: “We’re excited to welcome Xcel Energy as the initial member of the EASE and look forward to quickly adding more members to this community.
“Xcel Energy has an impressive understanding of the threats faced by the energy industry and it is committed to protecting itself and its customers.
“FS-ISAC Sector Services looks forward to helping the EASE sharing community enhance the security and resilience of the sector.”
