Nightpeak Energy has completed the 150MW Bocanova 2 battery storage facility in south-east Texas, US, raising the total storage capacity at the Bocanova site to 300MW.
The company also announced the successful financial close for the facility, noting that it went into commercial service on 17 September.

Bocanova 2 aims to provide additional flexibility to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas electricity grid amid rising demand, particularly as data centres and other large energy consumers expand operations in the state.
Located in Brazoria County, near the Houston metropolitan area, Bocanova 2 follows Bocanova 1, an earlier 150MW battery storage project at the same site.
According to Nightpeak Energy, Bocanova 1 commenced commercial operation in August 2025.
The combined projects form part of the company’s ongoing battery storage development in a region recognised for its fast-growing power demand.
Bocanova 2 is equipped with Tesla’s Megapack 2 XL lithium-ion battery systems. It operates under a long-term offtake agreement with an investment-grade counterparty.
The financing structure included a tax equity bridge loan and a construction-to-term loan provided by MUFG Bank, while U.S. Bank supplied traditional tax equity for the project.
Nightpeak Energy co-founder and CEO/chief development officer Paris Hays said: “We are seeing large loads come to the grid at a pace and scale that is fundamentally changing how the power sector plans for new demand.
“Texas is at the forefront of that growth, and meeting it will require significant new infrastructure as well as resources that can respond quickly as conditions change.
“With 300MW now operating at Bocanova, we are putting that kind of flexibility to work in one of the most dynamic power markets in the country.”
Nightpeak Energy was founded in 2022. Since then, the company has developed and acquired more than 1GW of operating and de-risked capacity, including battery storage, gas-fired generation and powered land development.
The company continues to develop additional flexible generation and large-load projects as part of efforts to address growing power needs in the US.
