Sembcorp Industries has commenced commercial operations at its 600MW hydrogen-ready combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant on Jurong Island, Singapore.
The facility began operations after Sembcorp fulfilled market registration requirements and obtained full Generation Registered Facility (GRF) status from the Singapore Energy Market Company.

The plant is designed to be adaptable for low-carbon fuels in the future.
With this addition, Sembcorp now operates a total gas-fired and renewables portfolio of 5.7GW in Singapore.
Singapore Energy Market Authority chief executive Puah Kok Keong said: “The additional generation capacity from Sembcorp’s new hydrogen-ready CCGT power plant contributes to strengthening the reliability and security of Singapore’s power supply.
“It illustrates how we are partnering the industry in expanding our power infrastructure to meet growing electricity demand, while decarbonising the sector. We will continue to work with the industry to uphold a reliable and resilient power system.”
Sembcorp’s power generation assets serve the country’s broader economy and support energy requirements for sectors such as data centres and semiconductors.
The company said the new facility will offer reliable electricity supply critical to Singapore’s growing digital infrastructure.
Alongside its domestic generation assets, Sembcorp has more than 2GW of regional renewable energy import opportunities.
Sembcorp gas and related services president and CEO and Singapore CEO Koh Chiap Khiong said: “This new capacity strengthens our ability to power Singapore’s AI-driven growth and enhance the nation’s energy resilience.
“The safe and on-time delivery reflects the strong partnership across the project teams and our disciplined commitment to execution.
“Fully contracted under long-term arrangements, the plant will deliver reliable power while supporting Singapore’s longer-term energy transition.”
In August 2026, Sembcorp Utilities, a subsidiary fully owned by Sembcorp, secured conditional approval from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) for a project that would import 300MW of renewable electricity from Peninsular Malaysia.
This project will draw on a major development at Linggiu Reservoir in Johor, Malaysia, consisting of approximately 2.2GWp floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system and up to 4.3GWh of battery energy storage.
Sembcorp is undertaking the development with KPRJ Environment, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor, and Qua Energy. Operations are anticipated to begin in 2029.
