Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured a contract to provide 103 G126-2.5MW turbines, which are capable of generating 260MW of power.
The turbines will be installed at the Hanuman wind complex in the Chaiyaphum province, Thailand.
This latest order marks the largest contract for SGRE in Thailand and is expected to see the installation of Asia’s highest wind turbines, with a tower height of 153m and blade length of 62m.
Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to be carried out by May next year, while commissioning is expected by the end of the same year.
SGRE will also operate and maintain the windpower facility.
Since its entry into Thailand in 2011, SGRE has so far installed 310MW capacity in the country, which represents more than 50% of Thailand’s total installed capacity.
