SSE Renewables has selected Aberdeen-based Seaway7 as the preferred supplier of critical infrastructure for its 1.4GW Berwick Bank B offshore wind development in Scotland.
Under the supplier agreement, Seaway7, a subsidiary of the Subsea7 group, will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) scope on the project.

The work is forecast to sustain 465 roles across the UK, with 400 of those based in Scotland.
Seaway7’s remit will encompass the design, supply and installation of roughly 90 fixed-bottom turbine foundations, along with subsea inter-array cabling.
Average water depths of 52m, rising to 59.7m in places, would make Berwick Bank B the world’s deepest fixed-bottom offshore wind farm once operational.
UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks and Scotland Cabinet Secretary for Economy Stephen Flynn noted that the announcement highlights the contribution of offshore wind projects to skilled job creation. They also indicated that such developments may help to support supply chains and boost wider industrial activity.
Shanks said: “This is what reindustrialising Scotland looks like: good jobs, built on the skills of Scottish workers, delivering the power our country needs.
“This contract will support hundreds of jobs and strengthen Scotland’s role in the energy supply chain. It means more opportunity for Scottish workers and more homegrown power to protect families from the volatility of global fossil fuel markets.”
The 465 positions comprise an estimated 160 direct roles at Seaway7, run from its Aberdeen base, and 105 indirect positions across the UK supply chain.
A further 200 direct and indirect roles linked to turbine foundation marshalling at a Scottish port are anticipated, with the location still to be confirmed.
The appointment represents the third EPCI contract between the two companies, building on earlier work at the Beatrice and Seagreen offshore wind farms and Seaway7’s ongoing turbine installation at Dogger Bank.
Berwick Bank B forms part of SSE’s wider 4.1GW Berwick Bank project, situated around 38km off Scotland’s east coast in the outer Firth of Forth.
The Berwick Bank project received consent in 2025 and is set to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm if developed to full capacity.
In January 2026, Berwick Bank B secured a 20-year contract for difference through the UK Government’s Allocation Round 7, providing long-term revenue certainty.
However, the Seaway7 appointment remains conditional on a final contract award and a final investment decision by SSE, which is anticipated in late 2027.
If given approval, initial offshore construction activities for Berwick Bank B are expected to start in 2028. Installation of foundations and inter-array cables is scheduled to begin in 2029 and finish by 2031.
