Norwegian renewable energy producer Statkraft’s Brazilian unit Statkraft Energias Renováveis (SKER) has reached a deal to buy two operational wind complexes in Brazil from EDP Renováveis (EDPR).

The two wind complexes, Jerusalém and Boqueirão, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, have a total of 62 turbines and a combined power generating capacity of 260MW.

SKER currently operates 19 renewable power projects in the country with a total capacity of 450MW, along with 600MW of wind projects under construction in Bahia.

Statkraft’s portfolio in the country, including projects under development, will now exceed 1.3GW of installed capacity.

The deal will bolster Statkraft’s position as a global renewable energy leader.

Statkraft Brazil CEO and president Fernando De Lapuerta stated: “Brazil is an important country for Statkraft Group’s growth, combining greenfield development of renewable technologies and acquisitions. This transaction is another significant step to the continuity of our investment plan.”
