Sungrow has signed a 280MW photovoltaic (PV) inverter contract with Rays Power Infra for constructing the largest solar power plant in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The new solar power plant will be built at Sundarganj, Rangpur District, on the banks of the Teesta river.

Rays Power Infra vice-president SP Sharma said: “We greatly appreciate your efficiency in providing best products and after sales services.

“We are going ahead with Sungrow for our 200MW Bangladesh project. we acknowledge and appreciate your services and look forward to have such excellence in future as well.”

Sungrow supplied its 1500V 3.125MW central inverter, which is claimed to offer an efficient and unimpaired power generation even at Teesta region that has 90% humidity levels.

The company has also agreed to offer services throughout the construction and commission procedure through its localised team.

The plant will be connected to the grid in April next year and have the capacity to generate 395GWh of clean electricity annually.

It will power more than 200,000 homes, while offsetting 13.825 billion tonnes of carbon emissions.

Additionally, the plant is expected to create more than 1200 employment opportunities in Bangladesh.

Sungrow International director Sunil Badesra said: “Sungrow now occupies about 65% market share in Bangladesh, and it also was recently rewarded the 2021 Bangladesh Solar Week Leadership Award. Sungrow has been cooperating with reliable partners like Rays Power Infra, and previous projects prove successful.

“This 280MW contract further enhances the mutual partnership between the two companies, and opens broader prospect for future cooperation.”

In May this year, Sungrow Power Supply secured a contract to deliver inverter for the 200MW Kom Ombo PV project in Egypt.
