Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has completed the installation and commissioning of its new wind turbine generator (WTG) S128 in Tamil Nadu.

Suzlon’s WTG S128 is claimed to be the largest manufactured in India, with a rotor diameter of 128m.

The company is currently carrying out tests at the site and certification is expected by the third quarter of this year.

Suzlon CEO JP Chalasani said: “The S128 wind turbine is going to be a revolutionary product in India. It has been our continuous effort to reduce the levelised cost of energy (LCoE) and we continue to invest in R&D with an aim to develop technologically advanced and innovative products.

The new WTG S128 will be available in various capacities ranging between 2.6MW and 2.8MW, and can be up to 140m tall.

“With its reduced LCoE, cost-effective design and superior performance, S128 will unlock unviable sites and set new benchmarks in the Indian windpower industry.”

“It is a proud moment for us to manufacture, install and commission the largest wind turbine generator in the country. With its reduced LCoE, cost-effective design and superior performance, S128 will unlock unviable sites and set new benchmarks in the Indian windpower industry.”
