Tauron Polska Energia‘s subsidiary, TAURON Zielona Energia, has signed an agreement to acquire project rights for a 190.8MW wind project in Poland from German renewables developer VSB Group.
Located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, the Miejska Górka wind energy project will feature 53 wind turbines and will be online by early 2027.
The turbines will be supplied and installed by the Nordex Group.
TAURON Polska Energia asset management and development vice-president Michał Orłowski stated: “Wind power plants are an important part of the decarbonisation of TAURON Group’s power generation mix.
“The electricity production profile of wind farms provides a good complement to the energy consumption profile of end users, who are increasingly producing their own energy from photovoltaics.
“This transaction is an important step in achieving the strategic goals of the TAURON Group.”

By GlobalDataTAURON has entrusted VSB with the responsibility to conduct additional construction and planning work essential for the wind farm’s commissioning.
VSB Poland managing director Hubert Kowalski stated: “The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy is well underway in Poland.
“Projects like the Miejska Górka wind park demonstrate what is possible and how, through strategic partnerships, we can achieve success on multiple fronts – increasing the share of wind and solar in the energy mix, expanding the availability of green electricity for citizens, and protecting the climate.”
In June 2024, VSB Finland secured the final permit for the construction of a 350MW wind farm, an important part of the 450MW Puutionsaari wind/solar hybrid project in North Ostrobothnia.
This marked a significant milestone for the company, paving the way for the launch of VSB’s largest renewable energy project and one of the largest hybrid park projects in Europe.
