Taiwanese engineering firm TECO Electric & Machinery has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a substation at the Hai Long offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
The company will build an onshore substation for the 1.04GW offshore project, as well as deliver any associated equipment and onshore cables.

TECO Intelligence Energy Business Group president Chang Sung-pin said: “The offshore wind industry attaches great importance to high-standard construction safety and quality, both of which are indispensable.
“TECO will select construction equipment that meets environmental protection regulations and monitor the air quality and noise level at all times during construction.
“TECO has been awarded EPC contracts of around 2GW for the onshore substations of offshore wind projects.

Once operational, the offshore wind facility will be Taiwan’s largest single offshore wind project and power more than one million households.
The onshore substation developed by TECO will provide the largest installed capacity in Taiwan’s offshore wind industry.
