The new unit, with an installed capacity of 800MW, started generating 155MW during the synchronisation process before being temporarily taken offline to allow further commissioning activities to proceed, reported the New Indian Express.

This process is said to be part of preparations ahead of the start of commercial operations for the unit.

The Yadadri Thermal Power Station is being developed in two phases, with a total of five units, each rated at 800MW. Stage one involved two units, while stage two comprises three units.

TGGENCO has stated that the first four of these units have already been commissioned and are supplying power commercially.

The synchronisation was observed by key officials including TGGENCO chairman and managing director S Harish, chief engineer (TPC) P V Srinivas, director (thermal and projects) Y Rajashekara Reddy and chief engineer (construction, YTPS/Stage-II) J Surya Narayana.

TGGENCO reported that the unit will remain offline while further testing and commissioning activities are carried out in preparation for its eventual commercial launch.

TGGENCO continues to lead operations at the site, aiming to expand the power generation capacity available to Telangana’s grid.

The project was developed by GENCO in partnership with Bharat Heavy Electricals under the engineering, procurement and construction method.
